North America Series with New Sponsor
Lamborghini Broward Joins Atapattu in IMSA Series for 2023

Boca Raton, Fla., May 8 – Ron Atapattu, the Miami, Florida-based racer and businessman has announced he will return to the IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series with his No. 24 red, white and blue, stars and stripes liveried Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO2 race car for 2023. “We are very excited to have Lamborghini Broward join us for this year’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America race series,” said car owner/driver Ron Atapattu. “I’ve been a Lamborghini man for many years and having the support of my local Lamborghini dealership is an honor for me and good opportunity for them to learn more about the incredible series and see the Super Trofeo EVO2 show its power on the race track.”

Atapattu was third in the Super Trofeo North America Series when he last competed full-time in 2019. That season he captured six podium finishes and nine Top 5 in 12 races. He got his start racing Lamborghinis back in 1996-99 in the original Lamborghini SuperSport Series run by the Stefan Ratel Organization (SRO), competing in the powerful Lamborghini Diablo SVR. This year Atapattu has similarly duplicated his former stars and stripes livery from the 1990s for this year’s running.

Atapattu will compete in the Am class with co-driver Kevin Madsen. Madsen is a racer and driving coach who also does a fair amount of stunt driving on nationally aired programs and commercials. His racing accomplishments include eight U.S. road racing championships, including a national championship, as well as two rallycross championships. He has coached a number of celebrities over the years including Jay Leno, Trevor Noah and Michelle Rodriquez with driving skills.

For this eleventh season of the Super Trofeo North America, Atapattu plans to compete in all five U.S. rounds and the continental championship finale in Italy. The inaugural race of 2023 will be held at Laguna Seca, Calif. May 12-14, followed by Watkins Glen International in New York on June 22-25. August 4-6 is the date for Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc., followed by VIR (Virginia) August 25-27. The finale U.S. round will be a first at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Sept. 15-17. The championship will then be crowed in Vallelunga, Italy on Nov. 16-17 to close out the season.

Miami-based ANSA Motorsports prepares the car for Atapattu, as well as other Super Trofeo Series’ drivers. Partners for Atapattu’s Wild Elephant Racing team include Lamborghini Broward and elephantea.
