US RaceTronics Ready to Conquer Virginia International Raceway
Alton, Virginia (Thursday, August 22, 2019) – US RaceTronics arrived at Virginia International Raceway yesterday with their sights set on replicating their successes from Road America earlier this month. Damon Ockey and Jacob Eidson are still striving for the top step of the overall podium in the No. 09 Lamborghini of Vancouver. While the pair were happy with their second and fourth-place overall finishes at Road America, as well as two wins in the ProAm class, they’ve come into this weekend looking to grab their first overall win.
Ron Atapattu and Patrick Liddy will be competing again in the ProAm class this weekend in the No. 24 Elephantea Lamborghini of La Jolla. The pair had success in their first race together, taking second-place in the ProAm class in the second race at Road America. Atapattu offered Liddy the opportunity to co-drive with him after the No. 34 Lamborghini of Beverly Hills crashed in Saturday’s race. The duo enjoyed working together to get Atapattu his first podium of the season and are planning to finish the season together.
Steven Aghakhani is ready to bounce back from a disappointing weekend at Road America in the No. 6 Lamborghini of Beverly Hills. The 16-year-old had radio issues that plagued him all weekend, but the team has worked to rectify the issue and everyone is expecting to see Aghakhani back on the top step of the podium in the AM class this weekend at Virginia International Raceway. The youngster from Southern California won both of his races in his debut at Watkins Glen International and is excited to have the opportunity to show his fans that he can repeat that success.
Team owner Shane Seneviratne is eager to get the weekend started. The team stayed a few extra days at Road America to prep the cars for this weekend since the two races were so close together. Seneviratne is confident that everything is exactly as it needs to be to have another successful race weekend.
The team will participate in today’s promoter test with the official race weekend kicking off tomorrow with practices at 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. EDT. Qualifying for both races is Saturday morning starting at 9:55 a.m., followed by Race 1 that afternoon at 4:45 p.m. EDT. Race 2 goes green Sunday morning, August 25, 2019 at 10:55 a.m. EDT.
